Cardinal Francis George, archbishop of Chicago, visited the abbey
today, toured the grounds, and addressed the community in the
chapter room.

Br Gerlac O'Laughlin celebrated
his 50th anniversary of monastic profession on Sunday, July 29,
2007.

Br. Cassian Vigna, born in 1918, Leechburg PA. Entered the monastery
in September, 1950. Passed to the Lord on July 15, 2007. Served
generously and quietly as printer, porter, cook. A beloved brother
and endearing character whose wry wit and faithful spirit will long
be remembered.
May he know the delight of being with
Jesus for ever!

On July 10th. Tibetan Oracle
visited Gethsemani.

Brother Raphael entered into
his heavenly home on June 9th. He blessed many retreatants as
he served them at the desk in the Guesthouse lobby. He would
have been 86 on August 14th.

peacefully to the Lord on May 21, 2007.
Brother Roderic was a brother of the Abbey of Gethsemani for
56 years.
