Br. Julian (Victor A.) Wallace passed away peacefully on the
afternoon of 26 January 2010.
He was born nearby, in Lebanon Kentucky, on the 22 March 1922. He
entered Gethsemani at age 27 on 22 August 1949, began his
novitiate on 26 February 1950, took his temporary profession on
2 March 1952 and was fully received into the community on 25
March, 1955.
Br. Julian put his talents as a woodworker to good use at Gethsemani.
For many years, he hand-made wooden gift boxes to hold special
orders of cheese. Many people have kept these boxes as a special
keepsake of Gethsemani.
He arranged to have students from a nearby vocational school assist
him in his work, and it is perhaps in his mentoring of these young
men that his true accomplishements rest.
