Gethsemani was the host for the 2010 Junior Conference.
About 20 Juniors, or those who are in temporary profession,
gathered from all over the region to meet in Kentucky. Fr.
Alberic, of New Melleray abbey in Iowa, stepped into his new
role as organizer for the region, and gently kept things moving
smoothly.
The visitors helped with the liturgy while they were here, reading
at mass and the major hours. Fr. Alberic and Br. Dismas, from
Mepkin, sang and played guitar for the offertory hymn at mass on
Thursday the 29th.

Mother Agnes Day, former abbess of Wrentham Abbey in Massachussets,
gave a weeklong series of talks on finding the extraordinary in the
ordinary. Her reflections on the day-to-day life of the
contemplative encouraged much discussion.
Dom Thomas Davis, former abbot of Vina, gave the second week's
conferences on a close reading of the "Life of St. Benedict" by
Gregory the Great. His long acquaintance with the work and his
insights were much appreciated.
Br. Gabriel of Gethsemani also donated his talent and energy by
giving a wonderful concert of piano pieces by Mozart and Liszt.
Everyone present was swept away by the music, and stood for an
ovation at the end.
