We were fortunate that Fr. William Harmless, S.J. could take time from his busy
schedule to give the community a series of conferences on mystical theology.
His talks ranged from the desert fathers to Bernard of Clairvaux. He rooted
the traditional mystical experience firmly in Christian community. It was easy
to see why Fr. William is in such demand as a speaker and teacher. His enthusiasm
is apparent and his erudition is worn lightly.

Fr. William is the author of several well-known and well-regarded books, including
Desert Christians and Mystics, both published by Oxford University
Press. He currently teaches at Creighton University, a Jesuit college based
in Omaha NE.
