Our Welcome Centre has been recently renovated. The lobby area, the atrium and
the corridor behind the cinema area have been redesigned to house an exhibition
on life at Gethsemani.
There are many photographs and informative texts on display about the Cistercian
Order and particularly about the Abbey of Gethsemani.
On Saturday evening, the 18th of June, the exhibit area was formally blessed by
the abbot with the community and our special guests, the Lay Associates of
Gethsemani, who were here for a weekend retreat.
Some members of the Lay Associates generously organized a buffet. The event gave
members of the community of Gethsemani the opportunity to chat with and come to
know the lay associates a little better.
The renovation of the Welcome Centre was entirely an in-house affair. Br. Gaetan
did the architectural design and layout of the display, and Dom Elias chose many
of the texts and did the typesetting.
