The community of Gethsemani was privileged to host the first of a new series of
continuing formation lectures featuring foreign scholars.
Fr. Laszlo Simon, OSB, gave six lectures on the psalms, demonstrating their
power and complexity as poetry, and exploring their theology.
Fr. Laszlo was born in Hungary and was ordained to the Benedictine priesthood in
1989. He has studied Hungarian and English literature, as well as scripture.
He currently teaches Sacred Scripture at Sant' Anselmo in Rome, and has been a guest
lecturer at St. John's, the Benedictine university in Minnesota.
The special lectures were the occasion for a number of visitors from other
OCSO houses in the region.
