Gethsemani hosted the launch of a series of new stamps issued by the U.S. Postal Service celebrating rural Kentucky's farms and gardens.

The collection is titled "Summer Harvest" and was designed by Alisa Zanetti.

A number of luminaries gathered in the Welcome Centre for the ceremony, among whom were our abbot, Fr. Elias and Br. Roger, the manager of Gethsemani Farms.

Gethsemani was chosen for the ceremony due both to its long agricultural history and to the fact that for many years, it was an official postal office.

Although the Governor of Kentucky was not present, he did send a proclamation declaring 11 July 2015 "Summer Harvest Day," officially relating it to the stamps and the abbey.
