"What do you seek?" the abbot asks.

"The mercy of God and of the Order." With this reply, on 21 May, 2017, Br. Matthias Meyer began a new phase of his journey in the monastic life.

Br. Matthias made the traditional monastic vows of stability, obedience and conversion of manner. He had written these in his own hand, read them to the abbot, and then signed them and handed the document to the abbot as a solemn seal to the vows.

This simple profession lasts for one year and is renewed generally for two more years before he is eligible for his solemn profession.

He was then clothed by the abboth in the black scapular and leather belt denoting his new status in the community.

As a junior professed, he will play a more active role in community life. He will be assigned to a permanent work assignment, and his studies will take a different direction.

The community is always overjoyed when one of its novices moves into the juniorate. After the ceremony was completed, everyone lined up to give Br. Matthias the kiss of peace and congratulate him on his perseverance thus far.

We ask you to join the community in praying for his continued perseverance and happiness.
