We wish everyone who reads this, and all their family, friends and loved ones, a very blessed Christmas season.

Beginning at 11:30 P.M. on the 24th, the community celebrated Christmas Vigils and Midnight Mass.

The church was decked in its finest holiday finery to greet us when the lights came on.

Trappists are not known for their parties, but Christmas is an exception. With our shipping push over, the monks are ready to relax and enjoy the season.

Following Vigils and Mass, the community gathered in our refectory to wish each other a merry Christmas. We enjoyed some refreshments prepared by our brothers who work in the kitchen.

The festivities continued the next evening, the 26th of December, in the scriptorium, with our one official party of the year.

Our brothers in the kitchen outdid themselves providing treats we seldom see through the rest of the year.

This is also the occasion when we enjoy the gifts we have received from friends and family, usually in the form of dessert, cookies, cakes, etc. We enjoyed them all immensely.

Conversation flowed as the brothers indulged in sweets and the obligatory ice-cream.

There was even some entertainment! The brothers of the novitiate presented a short skit and some musical numbers for the amusement and edification of the rest of the community.

From left to right, Br. Abel (seated), Br. Lawrence, Br. Matthias (special guest star) and Br. Joseph under the (literal) mop-top. Br. Lazarus assisted behind the scenes with sound effects and photography.

We are grateful to have this opportunity to again wish you all a continued Christmas season full of grace and joy.
