On the feast of the Annunciation, 25 March, 2017, Br. Maximilian Pickerell made his solemn profession.

The community was very pleased to welcome him as a fully-fledged member. It is a privilege to have him as part of Gethsemani.

The solemn profession is the last step in becoming a monk and a member of a community. It is a very serious commitment, for the individual, the community and the larger Church.

Br. Maximilian made vows of stability for life at the community of Gethsemani, obedience to the abbot, and a lifelong conversion of manner, which includes the other two Evangelical Counsels of personal poverty and chastity (obedience being already part of the monastic profession).

Br. Maximilian had many family members in attendance and enjoyed a gaudeamus with them afterward in the Guesthouse.

We ask you to join us in our prayers that Br. Maximilian enjoy a joyful and fruitful life following the monastic way here at Gethsemani.
